ABOUT THE ARTIST

Growing up Ryan was heavily influenced by 90’s cartoons, comic books, movies, music and pop culture. Whether from MTV, Masters of the Universe or the writings of J.R R. Tolkien, Ryan was constantly feeding from the wellspring of inspiration around him. This is evident in his artwork and his passion for all things “nerdy”. 

"I've always been drawn toward genres that allow me to apply imagination towards problem solving.  I love the creative process and making a tangible reality of something that previously only existed as an idea. I think there's a real power and magic to bringing ideas to life visually.  I find it very satisfying."

EDUCATION

Ryan graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. In 2020 Ryan furthered his art education by attending The Illustration Academy/Visual Art Passage workshop in Kansas City, Mo. There he studied under industry icons such as: Edward Kinsella, John English, C.F. Payne, Jon Foster, George Pratt and more.

“Creative pursuits have been the main driving force of my life since as far back as I can remember. I pursued art and illustration throughout my youth. So much so that I found myself in art school in Columbus,Ohio.”

Ryan now works as a full-time freelance Illustrator out of Overland Park, Kansas.

PROCESS

Ryan’s work varies from traditional to digital depending on project and client. 

His traditional work is predominantly done in water based media. (Acrylic, Inks, Gouache etc.) His digital work is usually done in Adobe software (Photoshop & Illustrator) and sometimes even Procreate.
